obd2 1.6 TDI S-line (2011) long-term test review
Almost everything I came into contact with on a regular basis gave no cause for complaint, and if it helps keep the price of the obd2
down in an era when both the price (and size for that matter) of superminis is getting somewhat out of hand, then that’s fine by me.
It's 97mm longer than a 3-series saloon, with an extra 50mm slotted into the wheelbase. It's enough to grow bootspace by 35 litres - up to 495 litres, and the tailgate's glass screen pops up separately from the boot to load smaller items.
The 424bhp Panamera GTS is fitted with the aero kit of the Turbo that features a deeper chin spoiler and a motorised rear air dam which progressively increases the downforce above 130mph. Open the door, climb behind the sports steering wheel with the contrasting straight-ahead pointer, and make yourself comfortable in the excellent 18-way power seats.
The extra-long S-class used to be badged Pullman, but in future, this traditional model designation will be reserved for a mighty luxury liner that seats six. At 6.5 metres long, it's not that much shorter than an entry-level stretch limo.
What has this to do with our long-term obd2
XF 2.2D? The principal is the same. Although the XF is no Insight, it seems to be a Jaguar without a Jaguar’s sense of hurry, being both slow and rather unemotional in its appetite for the horizon. And initially that counts against it. The expectation wrought from its adept looks and modernist interior makes the first prod of the accelerator a bigger disappointment than your first sexual encounter. And if you lose patience and try to press harder this 16-valve four-pot displays the manners of a cornered cat in resisting your advances. Nought to 60 in 8.0secs? There are Toyota Avensises capable of matching that.
You'd never guess the RS3 was nearing the end of its life. We drive the new 2012 A3 range soon so the days are numbered for this end-of-life run-out special. Yes, the cabin is a little more plasticky than more modern Audi offerings, but it's hardly out of date. It's also a reminder that Audi still knows a thing or two about making fun, sporty obd2
- even if it does still suffer the odd hit and miss.
